Spears had enjoyed a wild partying phase where she would hit the club scene alongside the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton in the early 2000s.
She had abused drugs and alcohol when things in her personal life began to go downhill, including her tumultuous child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Famously Spears had shaved her head in 2007, with her former manager Sam Lufti testifying in 2012 that it was way to prevent authorities from being able to drug test her.
‘She told me someone had told her that they can scientifically test her hair for a history of drug use, so she shaved it off,’ Lufti said during a civil trial against Spears and her parents Jamie and Lynne.

That year she was hospitalized twice and lost custody of her children, and proceeded to check herself into rehab shortly after — but it was claimed family members had pressed her to do so.
Her then manager Larry Rudolph had disclosed that she had voluntarily checked herself into Promises Malibu Treatment Center that year, but did not say what specific substance she was seeking help for.
Just one day after checking herself to the live in facility, in it was reported that she had left, marking the second time in one week she had done so.
Spears had been placed under a conservatorship in 2008 and she recently claimed that though her father was the conservator, it was her mother’s idea in the first place.
‘My dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago… but what people don’t know is is [sic] that my is the one who gave him the idea!!!’she wrote in an early November post.

Since the conservatorship began Spears had reportedly been sober, with a source confirming to Page Six in 2017 that she was still abstaining.
‘She’s in a Britney bubble. She’s healthy; she just celebrated another year of sobriety,’ a source said at the time.
During her 2018 Piece of Me Tour it was reported that her team was taking strict measures to ensure that she stayed away from alcohol.
‘Britney’s team set strict guidelines that no alcohol at all could be served backstage, because they want to keep it away from her, and also many of her dancers are underage,’ an insider told the publication saying it was ‘policy throughout her tour.’
A source had also told Straight Shuter that ‘Her advance people will make sure that alcohol is removed from every hotel where she stays and access to the singer will be limited to ensure no shady characters get anywhere near her.’

On Friday November 12, Judge Penny terminated Spears’ court-ordered conservatorship in a Los Angeles County Superior Court with no further medical or psychological evaluations.
Her lawyer Mathew Rosengart told the judge ‘The time has come today to end the conservatorship’ and later called it a ‘monumental day’ for the pop star.
‘What’s next for Britney is up to one person — and this is the first time we can say this in a decade. It’s up to Britney,’ he told reporters. Britney, as of today, is a free woman.’
And as she had publicly talked about suing her family — namely father Jamie — he added that it would be ‘up to her’ if there were to be a lawsuit.
A source familiar with the case confirmed that Spears had hired forensic accountants and did intend to sue her father Jamie for ‘conservatorship abuse.’

‘She’s mad as hell and you can expect to see a lawsuit filed against Jamie Spears very soon,’ the insider shared adding that ‘She blames her father for, effectively, ruining her life for the past 13 years.’
Reportedly Jodi Montgomery — the woman who was her personal conservator (not of the estate) helped her craft a post-conservatorship plan that will be kept secret from Jamie.
In legal documents obtained by TMZ her camp filed a ‘termination plan’ which includes guidelines ‘for supportive decision-making to help [Britney] adjust and transition to life outside of the conservatorship.’
The plan will reportedly only be seen by the judge and Spears’ lawyer Rosengart as the singer ‘does not want her medical or other privacy rights invaded by her father or any other party in this conservatorship case.’
